Thank you very much for your kind comments. I work as an editor of academic articles, so it's good to know that my own writing style appeals! I admire everyone who writes fic, though; I'm OK with descriptions, but plot and characterisation - now those are challenges!
So far, I have mostly knitted worsted-weight yarnon fairly big needles, mostly US 6-9, and I think that is why I find the idea of socks intimidating - such tiny needles! Now that I am back in Israel, I'll have to get used to using thinner yarns, as even in winter it's not cold enough for anything heavier. Maybe that will get me into knitting socks ...
